The eye check tests are non-invasive and typically completed within an hour. Your results guide which procedure, if any, is appropriate for your eyes.

LASIK Basic Test
The LASIK Basic Test is the first step to help us understand if you are a good candidate for any laser vision correction procedures. This eye check will take about an hour to complete.

PRE-LASIK COUNSELLING
You will have a personalised counselling session with our clinic staff to explore the available procedures. We will also discuss the post-surgery expectations, including recovery and visual outcomes.
PAYMENT
Make a payment of S$54.50 (inclusive of 9% GST) for the LASIK Basic Test.
If you are considering surgery, you can complete the full eye assessment. This will include pupil dilation and a consultation with our senior consultant.
DILATION
It is important to dilate your pupils to check your eye health before surgery to ensure that the eye is fit for surgery.
REPEAT SUBJECTIVE REFRACTION
Subjective refraction is repeated after the eye muscles are relaxed to reduce interference from involuntary accommodation. This will also ensure a more accurate assessment of your eye power.
DOCTOR CONSULTATION
The doctor will review the results of your LASIK evaluation, assess your eye health, and discuss the most suitable laser eye treatment options customised to your eyes and lifestyle.
The complete eye assessment fee of S$218 will be waived if you proceed with surgery.

How to Prepare for Your LASIK Assessment
👁️ Before your LASIK evaluation test, pleaseavoid wearing:
Soft contact lenses for 3 days
Hard contact lenses for 14 days
Coloured contact lenses for 7 days
We recommend using your glasses during this period. You may resume your contacts after the test if you're not proceeding with laser eye surgery consultation right away.
How Long Does a LASIK Assessment Take?
A LASIK assessment at LSC Eye Clinic typically takes around one hour, though appointments that include pupil dilation and a full doctor consultation may take longer. Patients are advised to allow sufficient time for the visit, as dilating drops (which widen the pupil to allow a detailed view of the eye) can cause temporary blurred vision and light sensitivity for several hours afterwards.

Dr Daphne Han is the Medical Director and Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at LSC Eye Clinic, with over 20 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology. Her subspecialty focus covers laser vision correction and lens implant surgery, encompassing LASIK, ZEISS SMILE® pro 2.0, ZEISS PRESBYOND®, Epi-LASIK, LASEK, PRK, and Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL) for patients unsuitable for laser-based correction.
Dr Han trained at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), where she served for over 14 years, and has completed advanced fellowship training internationally, including at IROC Zurich under Professor Theo Seiler and at the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Frequently Asked Questions About LASIK Assessment
Patients are advised to avoid eye makeup, including mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow, on the day of their assessment. Facial skincare is generally fine, though products applied close to the eyes may be asked to be removed before testing.
There is no clinical requirement to avoid caffeine before a LASIK assessment. However, if you tend to experience elevated anxiety with caffeine, arriving well-rested and without it may make the visit more comfortable.
Your current prescription will be measured as part of the assessment, so you do not need to bring a previous prescription. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bringing them on the day can be helpful for reference.
Soft contact lenses should be removed for at least three days before the assessment, and rigid gas permeable lenses for longer, as lens wear can temporarily alter corneal shape. If you are still within the recommended lens-free period, rescheduling is advisable to ensure accurate measurements.
The doctor will review your test results and discuss the options suited to your eyes during the same appointment. If your assessment includes the full consultation, a clear picture of your suitability can generally be provided on the day.
You are welcome to bring a companion. This can be particularly useful if your pupils are dilated during the visit, as your near vision may be temporarily affected and you may prefer not to travel home alone.
Patients are advised to avoid alcohol the evening before, as it can temporarily affect tear film quality and eye measurements. Swimming in chlorinated pools or using eye drops not prescribed by your doctor is also best avoided in the lead-up to the assessment.
If your prescription is still changing or you are not yet ready to proceed, an annual eye check is generally sufficient to monitor stability. A repeat LASIK suitability assessment is advisable once your prescription has been stable for at least one year.
Previous eye surgery does not automatically exclude you from a LASIK assessment. Your surgical history will be reviewed as part of the evaluation, and the appropriate options will be discussed based on your current eye health and clinical findings.
